If you turn it over to get the cam gear to 6, the crank gear should be at 12 if they are both dead on at 12 now. Cam gear revolves once for every 2 revolutions of the crank gear. view more2001116 · I had a 361 crank offset ground, 3.710, to use Crower BBC Sportsman rods. When they ground the crank they just widened the journals to accept the wider Chevy bearings. I honed the pistons to take .990 pins so I didnt have to do anything extra to the rods (they were bushed for floated pins from Crower).

view more2023128 · I,ve generally found that if you've stripped the SBC crank snout threads the best answer is to drill and re-thread to the standard and larger BBC crank snout bolt threads size. Measure the crank-snout diameter with a micrometer (above left). Ours measured 1.600 inch, which is right on spec.
